With today’s clients choosing to postpone their day on the Dee due to yet more rain, I was suddenly presented with a bonus day… so I went fishing!

But instead of North Wales, I headed for Stockport and the river Goyt which, despite the rain, was still fishable.

 

I wasn’t able to open my Grayling account on this river but I did hook a couple that didn’t quite make it to the net.

The colour and depth of the water dictated that I search with nymphs but there was a bonus 40 minutes at the end of the day where I spotted some rising fish and tied on a dry fly. The result was a couple more beautifully marked river Goyt Trout.
