Mid March sees the end of the Grayling season for most U.K. rivers. This last season has been particularly awful as a result of the Storms, Covid, and a catalogue of other issues which all conspired to keep us out of the water over winter.
That said, it was still possible to find a few specimens on those rare days when the planets aligned.
The last Grayling of my season proudly displayed it’s spectacular dorsal fin for the shot and then seemed to wave bye bye with it’s tail as it slide back into the icy cold depths of the river Dee.
