A trip to the Trib

June 9, 2017

With the Dee running almost half a metre higher than it’s optimum level, I was forced to postpone today’s guiding session. I declared myself available again for duty and after orders were dispensed, I was granted a 3 hour window to spend however I wished.

It is often the case that when a river is flooded, it’s tributaries might still be fishable. A quick check of River Alyn’s level gauge suggested that it could be worth a visit so I cashed in my voucher and I was off.

Even though the water was coloured, the Alyn was still at a reasonable height. The sun was back but there was nothing rising so I had to search with a small nymph in the shaded pockets. The ‘net’ result after a couple of lost fish was two perfect wild Brownies and a Grayling. Frown turned upside down. ??
