Autumn Equinox… 22nd September

September 22, 2017

As we slip ever closer towards the winter, I’ve again had to cancel this weeks river guiding in Wales due to the amount of water in the Dee.

To console myself, I headed an hour and a half in the other direction into deepest Stockport where the river Goyt was slowly but surely dropping.

The river was still coloured and almost double it’s usual depth so I opted for a heavy nymph through the most likely looking water. With yet more rain forecast for the afternoon, a short but very welcome 2 hour session allowed me to dodge the rain and the Friday traffic.

The Autumn Equinox marks the time when the night and the day are exactly the same length. The fishing days are getting shorter again. ?
