And we’re back… 29th August

September 1, 2017

As you will know, I said goodbye to a very special friend last week. Together we caught some of the the best Trout and Grayling to ever grace my net and we did it in some very unlikely places i.e. the industrial urban rivers of the North West.

These environments tend to take their toll on your gear so I use different kit when fishing them. One also has to be mindful of pollution and the transfer of invasive species between watercourses.

Today saw the inaugural wetting of my new small stream fly line.
The river Goyt was still a little high and again the holidaying anglers were out. The chap who was standing exactly where I’d hoped to fish told me that he’d had some small Trout on a dry fly and then continued his quest for bigger fish by wading straight up the middle of the river.

I was forced to move way upstream but I really wanted to fish the water he’d just waded through so I doubled back 30 mins later and fished it with a nymph.

I’m happy to say that my new fly line performed admirably and it was christened with a couple of stunners.
