Bala Bros … 11th November

November 16, 2017

Brothers James and Michael had struggled to redeem the fly fishing voucher purchased for them by their wives, but eventually after 2 postponements, it was all booked.
The river Dee would again be unkind to us but as they had a full weekend of activities planned anyway, we were going to carry on regardless of the conditions.

When we met it was clear that they’d thoroughly enjoyed their Friday night out in Bala and were it seems, positively welcomed by the locals! So much so that they wouldn’t have made it to the river at all had it not been for Michael (the younger and clearly more responsible of the duo) coaxing his big brother out of bed. James did look younger, though!

As expected, The fishing was exceedingly tough and we were always going to be up against it after it rained again during the night, colouring up an already high river.
A couple of very rare chances were missed but I think it’s fair to say that the previous nights revelry might have dampened their reflexes somewhat.
That said, as beginners they did exceptionally well and their enthusiasm and good humour made for a very enjoyable day all round.

Well done and thank you, Gentlemen.
