Big, Little, Brown…28th July

July 28, 2017

With the holiday traffic set to reach a crescendo in the afternoon and heavy rain forecast, I shot down to my local urban river for a couple of hours.
The forecast was way off as the rain had already rendered the river big and brown.

A copper headed pattern took a couple of Grayling and one of the smallest brown trout I’ve ever caught on a fly. The heavens opened again so as I was already wet, I decided to make one more fly change before heading home to beat the traffic.

The third cast produced a big, fin perfect brownie that for an urban river was incredibly clean and free of marks.
