Body and Soul…4th June

June 5, 2018

Whilst visiting a convalescing friend recently, he remarked on how easy it is to take good health for granted. He also mentioned how much he was missing getting out and about.

Human beings need to connect with nature. Some do it via their gardens, for others it can be as challenging as climbing a mountain or as simple as taking the dog to the park. For me, it’s fly fishing. Picking my way up a small stream through dappled sunlight in search of Wild Brown Trout is pretty close to perfect!

Today was one of those Trout days that you long for in the depths of winter.
Whilst there was absolutely no dry fly action, a single nymph plopped into the likely spots produced a feisty wild brown trout almost every other cast.

After a very productive 2 hours I’d have happily called it a day but the threat of my rush hour homeward journey was enough to convince me to head for another beat.

Even though the second beat wasn’t as fruitful as the first, my soul was already healed and the journey home was a pleasure.

This one stretch produced around 15 Trout
Todays fly showing signs of wear!
