Fish hiker! ….7th May

May 14, 2019

I caught this beautiful Wild Brown Trout on a nymph recently and when I was taking the trophy shot, I noticed that it had something else stuck to it.

Occasionally, you’ll find leeches attached to fish in slow, silty water but this fish came from a strong, shallow riffle.

Close inspection revealed that it was some kind of Olive nymph, very similar to the nymph that I’d used to catch the fish.

The nymph was playing a dangerous game hitching a lift on one of its main predators. Perhaps he was subscribing to the theory that you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer!

Both the fish and nymph were returned to the water relatively unscathed.

This nymph is living life on the edge!
