Fishing Frenzy … 27th July

July 27, 2017

Douglas is in North Wales with his family to support his daughter Natalie as she completes England Youth Fly Fishing team duties on Llyn Brenig.
Himself an accomplished boat and coarse fisherman, Douglas wanted to improve his river fly fishing skills so whilst daughter and mum headed off to the lake, we made our way down to the river Dee just below Bala. We all agreed that Douglas would be back by 2pm to resume his parental responsibilities.

Conditions were far from ideal for anyone out fishing today as heavy rain and strong winds gradually took a hold from around 10am. This all but put an end to any hopes of dry fly fishing but soon after being introduced to French nymphing and Suspended nymphing, he was connecting with some fantastic fish.

Sadly, not all of them made it to the net but many did including a stunning Sea Trout.

No gloating, Dad!
