I’ve had an unusual amount of half day river lessons recently. I don’t suggest them for beginners but for those with some casting and fishing experience, they are a great way to iron out any wrinkles and focus on the stuff that will hopefully put more fish in the net.
If I can book two on the same day then great but if not, I can leave my client to practice what they’ve learned …. and I can go fishing!
Thursday morning was devoted to river casting lessons and the afternoon was spent searching for a good River Dee Grayling. The fishing is still super tough on the river Dee but eventually I found the right combination of water, fly, presentation and good fortune and landed the seasons best Grayling…so far!
Nice grayling, did you catch them on dry fly? I bet they where good fighters. Caught one a similar size yesterday, it was the first time I have ever seen a grayling jump when hooked. It was quite exhilarating on a 3 weight rod.
