Go with the Flow … 28th September

October 3, 2020

The medium range forecast suggests that the current ‘perfect’ height of the river Dee is set to increase due to heavy rain.

This is ‘THE’ time of the year to target Grayling on the dry fly so after helping one of our newer members on the CADAC club waters, I spent a couple of hours trying to entice some of the larger Grayling to take a small dry fly.

Whilst it is true that they feed a little more readily at this time of the year, they will not entertain a poorly presented fly so particular attention has to be paid to line management and the elimination of drag.

This, along with the ‘summer spinner sippers’ is some of the most challenging but rewarding dry fly fishing we encounter and I don’t need to tell you… I LOVE IT!
