Loads of Leaves! … 27th September

September 28, 2017

According to the gauge, the river Goyt was dropping but according to the forecast, there would be heavy rain again overnight. With the trout season ebbing away, this could be my last chance to target them.

The first hour was fruitless and even though I was able (for the first time in weeks) to wade to the hotspots, I could tempt nothing. The second hour came and went but yielded nothing other than two whitebait-sized Grayling.

The leaves are in the water now so at least I was getting some excitement from the false bites they provided.

It wasn’t until I was heading back that I had any success. A couple of 10 inch Trout and 5 Grayling in a hectic 15 minute spell on fast ‘Trouty’ water.

Funny things, fish!

Leaves above, on and below the surface.
