Lovely day for it! …19th June

June 20, 2017

Conditions for the The river Dee around Corwen today were spot on. The gauge was at the perfect height and the forecast was warm temperatures, cloud cover and no wind. With Chiara begging to go fishing I could find no plausible reasons not to take her.

On the plus side, it meant I could field test some equipment. A new floating net, a box full of newly tied dries, my recently repaired waders courtesy of Diver Dave and my brand new Orvis wading boots.

The fishing was fantastic but the equipment fell a little short. The clip on the new net was incomplete so I had to use my old one, the flies had been left by my vice and the soles of my wading boots would have been more suited to Torville and Dean. That said, it turned out to be very hot so the unscheduled dip wasn’t too uncomfortable.

The good news is that once my waders were full of water, they remained full until I got back to the car. Proving that they are now indeed water tight. Good job Dave!
