Nice start to a finish…1st July

July 5, 2017

Dan was back in North Wales for 3 days fishing before a summer holiday with his wife.
A hectic work schedule meant he’d left London at 05.30 on Saturday morning to get up to North Wales for our river day.

This may have accounted for his less than enthusiastic reception to my suggestion that we start on the Double Nymph. However, that scepticism soon melted away as the first Grayling stopped the French Leader in its tracks and we were into the first of the days many fish.
A second even bigger Grayling soon followed and he was now fishing the method like he’d been doing it for years.

Other than a slight breeze, conditions were very good so we were quickly working on Dans dry fly presentation. There was little moving on the surface but some perfectly presented dry flies over the likely looking spots proved just too tempting for the resident Grayling and the days first Trout.

Dans enthusiasm and thirst for information prompted another change of method and a stint on the Duo picked up yet more fish. Clearly enjoying the first day of his holiday, I left Dan to fish on into the evening and he later confirmed the capture of another 6 fish.

Happy Holidays Dan!

First Wild Brown Trout of the day.
Perfect concentration
