Short and Sweet…27th November

November 27, 2020

Buoyed by Wednesdays success, I headed to the river again today. This time, it was the river Wye in Derbyshire.
The temperature finally dropped today so I wasn’t expecting any surface activity and during my 2 hour session, I didn’t see a single fish rise.

The beat had its full quota of rods so fancying a walk, I decided to start right at the very bottom of the beat and fish my way back up. This not only gave the water a chance to warm up a little but got my blood pumping before I took the plunge and waded into the icy cold, waist deep water.

I knew I would have to search each likely spot thoroughly as every step back upstream took me closer to the other three anglers sharing this small beat. This meant several fly and rig changes to match the fluctuations in depth and flow but as always, it was well worth the effort.

First and best of the day!
A perfect winter Grayling
