A tough day (not) at the office… 9th July

July 10, 2017

On Sunday I was my pleasure to guide recently retired John and his son Dave on the river. They had both attended an introduction to fly fishing course on a Stillwater in LLangollen and were so smitten that they immediately invested in their own fly fishing gear. Conditions for our day seemed almost identical to the previous days but it was a very different story.

It’s fair to say that on any other day, their efforts would have resulted in a good amount of fish but unfortunately they witnessed one of those frustrating days when the fish were just not interested. With the exception of the 7lb Salmon that leapt out of the fast water, we didn’t see a rising fish all day! Our efforts on the nymph only produced 1 small Trout and 2 small Grayling but they stuck to the task and I’m positive that the techniques they learned will pay dividends next time they venture out.

A great effort gentlemen, I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures of your trophy fish!
