Ups and downs…and back ups….28th September

September 28, 2017

The gauges on all my local rivers showed spikes due to last nights heavy rain but this mornings beautiful sunshine convinced me that they might all be wrong. Sadly, they weren’t.

Back to chocolate brown after yesterday’s brief respite, the Goyt was angry and vocal. I opted for wellies over waders and explored the section of the river just above the Millennium Walkway. I’ve never fished this section as it is always very busy with hikers, climbers, dog walkers, joggers, nannies and perverts.

It’s best to avoid eye contact where possible but I did make a couple of new friends.

One of my regular pools.
Top of the beat. The famous double arch bridge.
The river Sett is a tributary of the Goyt
…and it was a tad full.
“Make sure you get my best side”
“Psst, wanna buy some squirrel fur?”
